DATES Exhibition dates: Dec 30, 2020 – Jan 25, 2021 Official opening: Jan 3, 3 pm – 5 pm, 2021
Michael Leunig’s wonderfully fragile and humorous works will open the new year at QG.
The exhibition will showcase the artist’s paintings and engravings, along with never before seen, original works that have been created specifically for this exhibition. In his deceivingly regressive, yet complex style, this celebration of Leunig’s work will champion the simple joys of human nature and the wider natural world that Leunig is known, and loved, for – a child with a flower, a wide embrace, a song.
DATES Exhibition dates: Jan 27, – Feb 15, 2021 Official opening: Jan 31, 3 pm – 5 pm, 2021
Fragility and fable come together in this beautifully delicate exhibition of the works of Elizabeth Banfield and Kati Thamo. The complexity of the natural world and ever-changing landscape is celebrated by both artists as they tell the story of their own, individual relationship to nature and memory. Where Banfield’s layered linocuts of tissue paper and thread weave an intricate tale of life, death and the interconnectedness of all things, Thamo’s etchings create small scenarios wherein birds, animals and plants interact – each image its own miniature theatre where the mystery, frailty, hopefulness and anxiety of life can be enacted.
