QG Exhibition: (the late) Michael Leunig JOMO (Joy of Missing Out).
Exhibition dates: Dec 11, 2025 – Jan 11, 2026
Queenscliff Gallery is proud to present JOMO – The Joy of Missing Out, a significant solo exhibition honouring the late Michael Leunig—one of Australia’s most cherished artists and poetic commentators on the human condition. Developed closely with the Estate of Michael Leunig, this exhibition features limited-edition etchings, engravings, lithographs, and works on paper newly released by the estate.
JOMO speaks to a theme deeply embedded in Leunig’s work: the restorative pleasure found in solitude, simplicity, and the gentle act of stepping aside. His unmistakable linework and familiar cast of humble wanderers, ducks, and moonlit companions reflect a worldview nourished by stillness and emotional clarity. In many ways, this exhibition feels like a fitting tribute—a reflection of the contemplative spaces Leunig treasured. There is a quiet sense that he himself might be enjoying a kind of cosmic “joy of missing out,” resting peacefully beyond the noise of the world he depicted with such tenderness.
Queenscliff Gallery is honoured to host this commemorative exhibition, inviting audiences to reconnect with Leunig’s whimsical wisdom, humour, and profound emotional resonance.
