I love the way a still life picture can reveal a contained world of order, beauty and intimacy.

We are surrounded by still life in our domestic lives, and it is often the simplest combinations of colours, textures and patterns that I find the most beautiful. I love the way a still life picture can reveal a contained world of order, beauty and intimacy.

Colour provides my greatest inspiration and joy when I paint and most of my paintings start with a strong sense for the colours I feel like working with. The flowers, ceramics and fabrics are all selected following this initial inspiration. These works also reflect my growing interest in pattern and the way flat patterns can interact with the form of flowers, fruits and ceramics.
