From the arrogant pride of doomed King Lear and the agony of Portnoy’s frustration to Bridget Jones’ epic, gaffe-prone stumbling towards love, literature has for centuries explored the shadowy freakshow that is the human condition: the shameful, the terrifying, the dazzling, the enraging, the joyful, the hopeful, the dangerous, the beaten and the wickedly funny.
And it’s human emotion that Queenscliff Gallery & Workshop (QG&W) will explore in its 2020 Literature Print Exchange, (in non COVID19 circumstances) a programme highlight of the annual Queenscliffe Literary Festival.
The following 27 printmakers reinterpret famous volumes of fact and fiction.
