Nick Clarke

Born 1979, Melbourne, Victoria.

Nick was drawn back to practising art during Melbourne’s lockdowns. Experimenting with linocut printing – triggered by a distant memory from the school art room – quickly evolved into a passion for printmaking and its limitless potential for expression and technique.

Influenced by his enduring interest in photography, Nick finds inspiration in the light, colour and composition of incidental moments. He enjoys the way an idea can arise anywhere – from the city streets to the outdoors, where he most enjoys spending time – and how an image subsequently evolves into an ambiguous, subjective representation open to interpretation.

Nick lives in Melbourne but enjoys time spent on the Bellarine Peninsula and travelling as widely as possible.
