Artist’s statement
A time came when they knew they had to leave. They placed their trust in a captain of shady character, but since he wore the robes of religion, his word was taken. They loaded their trees, their cuttings, and seeds, and set sail for a new land; with one eye on the dark clouds and one eye on the captain.
