Discover the art of Solar Plate Etching in this intimate, hands-on workshop designed for those curious about contemporary printmaking.
Limited to just six participants, this premium one-day experience offers the opportunity to explore a fascinating and environmentally friendly printmaking process in the inspiring setting of Queenscliff Gallery.
Solar Plate Etching uses light-sensitive plates and water rather than traditional acids, making it a contemporary and accessible approach to etching. Throughout the day, participants will be guided through the complete process, from preparing imagery and exposing plates to inking, wiping and printing on professional printmaking papers.
Designed for beginners and those new to printmaking, this workshop provides a solid foundation in the technique while allowing ample individual attention throughout the day. Participants will leave with their own original prints, a deeper understanding of the process, and the confidence to continue exploring printmaking.
With such a small group, there will be plenty of opportunity for questions, discussion and one-on-one guidance.

We’ll pause for a 30-minute lunch break, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy some of Queenscliff’s wonderful local cafés and eateries nearby.

Trudy Rice is an Australian printmaker with over a decade of teaching experience, creating richly layered works on paper that celebrate the beauty of birds, gardens and the natural world. Represented by Queenscliff Gallery, her work is held in private and public collections throughout Australia and internationally.
