David Moore

Born 1947, Melbourne.

David Moore is the son of Graham Moore, a well-known Australian painter. He was brought up in an artistic household. He was taught to paint directly from life and studied under an Alice Bale Scholarship with Sir William Dargie and Harley Griffiths.

He continues to be inspired by the world he sees around him and paints still life and landscape from life, using traditional methods but applied in his own individual way.

Recently moving to Castlemaine, he prefers to paint landscape of familiar local subject matter. His favourite mediums are oil paint on canvas and cedar panels, as well as gouache on paper. He also continues to have a passion for painting still life, which is minimalist and often just one object. The simplicity and intimacy of single objects appeal to him.
