A full house of art history enthusiasts attended the Geelong Libraries special lecture: Printmaking and Streeton, organised by Hilary Stennett and presented by Queenscliff Gallery (QG) Director Theo Mantalvanos.

Briefly covering the story of Australia’s most loved impressionist, Sir Arthur Streeton and his connection to Queenscliff, Theo presented his privileged experience of restoring, editioning and exhibiting the suite of 11 etchings the artist created while honeymooning abroad.

In the hour-long event, attendees were informed about the differences between modern-day digital printing and the centuries-old printmaking techniques of wood engraving, linocut, lithography, screenprint, etching and engraving. They were taken through a historical timeline of artists and their trade in the printmaking process.
