David Moore is the son of Graham Moore, a well known Australian painter, and was brought up in an artistic household. He was taught to paint directly from life, studying under an Alice Bale Scholarship with Sir William Dargie and Harley Griffiths.

He continues to be inspired by the world he sees around him and paints still and landscape from life, using traditional methods but applied in his own individual way.

Recently moving to Castlemaine he prefers to paint landscape of familiar local subject matter. His favoured mediums are oil paint on canvas and cedar panels as well as gouache on paper. He also continues to have a passion for painting still lifes that are minimalist and are often just one object. The simplicity and intimacy of single objects appeal to him.
